If you have more than one child, the amount of time that it takes for those clippers to actually start paying for themselves is very short. And, if you have one of those husbands with a hairstyle that needs frequent touch ups and trims, you really will be pulling in the savings in no time. You can even save yourself the expense of having to pay for a ten minute trim if that is all that you are going to have done.
There are several types of clippers that you can look at and most of them are pretty straightforward to use. But, if you are really worried and uptight that you will make a mistake, look for the brands that have guides that show you exactly where to cut and will not allow you to cut too short. Look for little guards that protect the skin from being cut and that should help you relax as well. Hey, if all else fails adopt the mantra that it is only hair and that it will grow back!
Before you actually start on real hair, especially for someone who might not be so great at sitting still, you should have a dry run, practicing with how you want to hold the clippers as well as changing the accessories or guards so that you are handling yourself pretty much like a pro before you even cut the hair. Next, choose someone who will be the most forgiving and understanding about your first efforts and will understand the supreme need to sit still. Your son likes baseball caps, right?
With a smaller child, you want to be as calm and relaxed as possible because they can pick up on your energy- if you are wired, they will be too. Show them the clippers and let them listen to the sound it makes before you get started and then talk to them while you are working. Better yet, cut their hair in front of a favorite cartoon and they might not even notice that you are finished.
If you don’t think you could get the hang of the corded clippers, then opt for cordless or rechargeable ones, but understand that they are not always as powerful and sometimes are not as reliable. No matter what kind you buy, make sure that you are going to be comfortable and confident with your hair cutting clippers and everything will be fine.
